I Started Growing Bob Dylan's Beard

Looking at this picture makes me wish the Beard Project wasn't over... and it makes me wonder how I manage to make the most awesome faces in front of cameras. Blue Steel? Ferrari? Le Tigra? Pleeeeease...

One Nation Full Of Zombies

I might be even more excited for this album than for T.I.'s...

You Got It, So Bad

Quick question: What's more 80s-style awesome, Chromeo's songs or Chromeo's videos?

Lights Out, Masks On

As you can probably tell, I've been listening to a lot of rap music lately. This is one of my favorite songs right now.

... On The Jugglers And The Clowns

A couple Saturdays ago, I went down to the park to check out New Belgium's Tour de Fat. Unlike a few years back, I didn't ride any of the goofy bikes but I did check out a couple of the performances. Nanda was by far the most entertaining (and only part of it had to do with the fact that the tall guy performed on crutches because his ankle was in a cast). I would describe them as ninja break dance jugglers who do comedic skits featuring Matrix-style slo-motion and musical performances with live instrumentation. I pulled these videos off their website. I think the third one is the best.

Don't Wake Me

This morning one of three things happened.

A) I slept straight through my alarm.
B) I hit the snooze button multiple times without realizing it.
C) I discovered my alarm clock doesn't work anymore.

I'm not sure which of those is true but either way, I got an extra 40 minutes of sleep and came into work late. It's a good thing we're not crazy busy right now, seeing as I am trying to leave at least a little bit early today, and now I'm spending my time posting on this blog...

Throw Them 'Bows

I wanted to make a sarcastic comment about how the WNBA is full of thugs and is in need of an image make-over but all I can think about is ESPN's coverage of the fight. How can they play that music while showing the little skirmish? Damn, I was getting amped. By the end of the fight clip, I was actually ready to tackle somebody.

Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

Today, I read this article about knuckle ballers (all two of them!) in the major league. Back when I was a young buck, my dad would throw a knuckler at me when we were playing catch just to goof around a bit. Before I quit little league, he taught me how to throw a knuckle ball and even though I couldn't make it dance (I was too noodle-armed... at the time), it was still crazy watching it fly with no rotation.

(Side note: My parents and my brother used to go trick or treating with Tom Candiotti and his kid when he was playing for the Athletics. We were friends with his agent's family so my brother, Candiotti's son and my brother's friend would dress up like kids do and beg our neighbors for candy.)

Crazy Insane Or Insane Crazy?

I don't know what GotVMail is and quite frankly, I hope I never know... as long as Busey does his thing...

It's The Almighty Duo

It hasn't happened yet, but sooner or later I'm going to get sick of hearing Clipse/Re-Up Gang rap about the same ol' stuff... I like this song but the video makes me feel like I'm rocking back and forth on a boat during most of the scenes. The best part is when Malice is rapping in different color polos against the black back drop. It's nothing new to music videos but it reminds me of an iPod commercial or something. Wait, why is Pusha wearing a Manchester United jersey???

Let Us Sing Songs

For comic book nerds, musical lovers, humanitarians, hopeless romantics and NPH fans everywhere...

<

I don't feel like writing much so get some info from this fan site.

Watch Act I and Act II at Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. Act III comes out on July 19th.

UPDATE:

I thought I would make three quick comments on Acts I and II: Mostly utterly ridiculous; borderline brilliant at times; filled with one-liners I hope to bring into my daily vernacular.

But We're Never Gonna Survive...

We went to Sausalito on Saturday to hang out for a bit. We got ice cream, walked around a little and hung out at a bar while waiting for the ferry. One of my friends got hit on by an old towny who supposedly owns two homes (one of them being Janis Joplin's old house) and used to bounce for Van Halen. He told us he was stoned. When we got back into the city, we hosted a bbq and a movie night. Here are some boring pics. (Ignore the smudges. I think my lens is dirty.)

This rock stacker came over near us spectators when he was done with that one. He smelled bad.

I've only been to the Scoma's in SF but I'm sure this one is just as good. It wished me a happy birthday which was nice even though it was wrong.

Can you guess what we watched?

Reppin' The Logo

I stumbled on this blog Logólogos that makes logo equations. What is a logo equation? Check 'em out. I like logos in general so I thought this site was pretty creative. My favorites were Apple, Cisco, Nesquik and Wiki but all of them were pretty good.

What's Your Impression?

It's disappointing when three artists I really enjoy (in this case, Pharrell, Julian from the Strokes, and Santogold) collaborate and make a really bland track. The video is pretty cool though.

Maybe Not

Stupid shit I've done in recent history:

- Spilled spaghettios all over my shirt, jeans and the counter top in the lunch room at work (today).
- Fallen off my bike (multiple times) at embarrassing low speeds.
- Crashed my head into a tree while riding down our alley.
- Broke a pint glass while washing dishes (at least 5 times in the past year).
- Spilled a cup of coffee all over my desk.
- Maintained this blog even though no one reads it.
- Spent 20 minutes trying to fix a water filter at work (only to find out it was unplugged).
- Ate a hot pocket.

Go DJ

Today I stumbled upon this guy, Eboman. Um... what you need to know: He makes these crazy sample-based audiovisual tracks, in some cases using a motion sensor body suit as his user interface. His compositions are equal parts awesome and seizure-inducing (in some cases, solely seizure-inducing. He won a Webby for the video I posted above. And his website is pretty cool.

Why Would You Lie?

Watch this No Age video (It's a decent song, decent video too. Sub Pop approved)...

... then watch dude's review.

Man, that cracks me up. One question though: Was Eddie Murphy his voice coach?

This guy also reviewed Oxford Comma. See it:

Sunglasses At Night

Here's a slightly blurry picture of my new sunglasses. I had been looking for some Ray-Ban Club Masters but I discovered those suckers were too small for me. I found these Stussy Coltranes on Haight St. a couple weeks ago. They're a similar style to the Ray-Bans but slightly bigger. I didn't buy them at the Stussy store because they were too expensive but I ended up looking around online when I got home. I found them for about half price at Sunglasses Giant so I didn't hesitate placing an order. Even though it took a few days for them to process my order, the shipping was fast. It only took about 5 business days when it was all said and done.

These are the first expensive pair of sunglasses I've ever owned and I am pretty happy with them so far. Aside from really feeling the style, what stands out is how much more solid they are than the cheapos I'm used to wearing. Assuming I don't lose them or mess them up, I bet they'll last a lot longer than my cheapos too. If I have any complaints, it's that the case that came with them isn't a hard shell (I know I'm going to break these eventually) and that they squeeze my fat face a little bit (but I knew that ahead of time from trying the on in the store). But those are pretty minor complaints so as long as people don't think they make me look stupid, I should be rockin' these when the sun's out.

Happy Fourth!

No Clouds In My Storms

Pulled these off Nahright yesterday...

I thought this was going to be a dope single shot video but he just walks around with nothing really going on... Apparently, this was filmed as he was walking into the BET studios to premiere the video. The best part is Weezy doing a heel click like he's the Tin Man or something.

Pretty cool intro video to Jay-Z's set at Glastonbury.

50 Cent does some more talking out of his butt. When was the last time this guy was taken seriously? Really, at this point I hope T.I. doesn't respond, then 50 can throw a tantrum like a toddler who isn't getting any attention from his parents.

Poppin' Cris With Your Godfathers

Ever since the Warriors missed the playoffs last season, I've been saying it was Baron's time to leave. It's not that I don't like him or that I think he's past his prime, but I don't think they were going to contend with him leading the current roster (and I wasn't counting on a blockbuster trade without him involved). Of course, I was hoping he would get traded, kind of as pre-emptive strike since he was probably going to leave after his contract was up anyway. It's a shame Golden State didn't get anything in return but at least some money has freed up. So yeah, I'm okay with him leaving but I'm bummed I won't get to watch him play as much. Maybe things would've been different if the team didn't collapse at the end of the season...
