Sly Fox

Two Fox News stories right here:

I don't know why I felt the need to discuss this but I'll spare you the extended version. I just deleted a lengthy draft in which I rant about the hypocrisy of some people -- people in general, and people I know -- who are adamantly opposed to cursing. I admit that it isn't a good idea to swear all the time (I try to cut back from time to time too) but several of the reasons I have heard as to why certain people choose to abstain from cussing, and what they do instead, make me think they're missing the point. I guess some of these people would argue that I am missing the point too. In the end it doesn't really matter. It's just interesting, I suppose...

Pertaining to the videos:

1. The pizza deliveries are a little mean but pretty funny too, like a good high school prank. Death threats though? Because a kid started a "No Cussing Club"??? That's ridiculous and pointless.

2. I had never heard of "See You Next Tuesday" but I think it's pretty hilarious. Plus, I just like it when people say unexpected things in professional news forums (see Patrice O'Neal). Also, I cup.

O Le Le, O Le La,

Kobe looks half-decent with a ball at his feet. It makes sense, since he grew up in Europe and he's one of the top athletes in the world, but with some people soccer is so foreign that the foot-eye coordination just isn't there. He probably isn't as good as Nash or The Dream but he doesn't look awkward.

Also, is that Iniesta in there?

We Attack

This is serious... seriously awesome. Even though I find those road signs helpful during my commute on the constantly under-construction (thankfully) 101, I think this is kind of hilarious. What's even funnier than hacking into an electronic road sign and warning people of zombies, is that Gizmodo basically tells people how to do it before telling them not to do it. I'm predicting traffic sign proposals and Godzilla warnings galore.

It's Your Birthday...

I used to be a fan of Jim Carey. I used to be a fan of 50 Cent. While I haven't completely written either of them off, even in the peaks of their careers I would have found this pairing odd. Now, I understand that they're both just having a good time so it shouldn't matter that 50 is singing a happy birthday song to Jim Carey, but it's a little random right? Like, if someone were to have said "X" movie star was dancing on stage while "Y" pop star was singing to him/her, who would have guessed these guys?

Two more quick hits:

- Is anyone really surprised that "In Da Club" is the highlight of 50's career? It's a great song off a really good album; easily better than any of his more recent work. It's not that "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" was such a classic that there's no way he can top it. It has nothing to do with over-exposure, an attempt at a movie career, pointless marketing beefs with Mr. West, or selling out (which still doesn't exist by the way). I think it's more that aside from a song or two, his work since his first album just hasn't been any good.

- I realize this is a pretty stupid and pointless post (aren't they all?) but put that aside for a bit to answer me this: how awesome is Jim Carey's dancing? I can't really tell if he's doing the goofy white guy dance as a joke or if he's really just thinking "screw it, I'm feeling this music and I'm going to dance". I just wonder, because his head nods reminded me of "Ace Ventura" and "Dumb and Dumber". If it is in fact a joke, do you think 50 Cent realizes it?

Oh No

This has been on the Net recently but I figured I'd post it too... It's a stupid Microsoft program that allows bored people to take vocal tracks or sing the vocals themselves, and turn them into songs with beats and instrumentation. I'll let the commercial, which seems to have been made for the after-school special crowd, explain it all.

At this point, I still haven't heard a Songsmith remix that's any good, despite what others claim. All the remixes are battling for "least terrible" and they're all losing. Internetters have been talking about how the program inexplicably mixes major and minor keys but I just think it makes bad songs.

Big Things Poppin'

I'm not sure I want them to make an Arrested Developments movie. From the onset of that sort of talk, Michael Cera has been hesitant too but maybe that's only because he's a big movie star now and he doesn't have time for failed TV show movies even if the TV show was critically acclaimed and it was the launch pad for his career. It's more likely that he just doesn't want to anger fans and ruin a great show but it's funny to think of Michael Cera as a delusional Hollywood kook.

Rock The Catskills

I don't watch (m)any stupid television shows but I've been known to read about them and watch clips on Videogum. I guess there's a fine line (or lines) between watching something because you truly enjoy, watching something ironically, and reading something about something someone watched ironically, but that's not what this post is about. (And that's not a good sentence either. I digress...)

The thing about this little American Idol clip, in which Seacrest tries to high five a blind guy, is that it's just an honest mistake. It's funny in that Ryan Seacrest is easy to make fun of -- even with his Knocked Up cameo, which showed he has a sense of humor and some self-awareness -- and because it's easy to laugh at other people's awkward situations but really, it could happen to anyone. His natural instinct to celebrate and congratulate was to do a high five. Everyone's natural instinct to celebrate and congratulate should be to do a high five.

What Do You Want For BreeaakFast?

Maybe it's because I have no idea what he's been doing all these years (playing in a band?) but this is the coolest thing Kevin Bacon has done since Tremors. (I love Tremors.) Here, he shows everyone he has a sense of humor while making fun of Ashton Kutcher. I laughed.

Skills That Pay The Bills

Super late on this but maybe you haven't seen it yet. Skillz got skills. Get it? Here he wraps up The Wire. Get it?

P.S. THE WIRE: SPOILER ALERT!

Something To Look Forward To

Yay, more Hulu and more TV. I'm only posting this because come Monday, the Internet is going to be flooded with video links and embeds of skits from NPH's SNL and I wanted you to hear it first here. (I'm like MTV News. You. Hear it. First. Even though I'm not first or even second or third, probably.)

S.O.B.s

Speaking of Scrubs, here's the excellent close to the first episode of the 8th and hopefully final season of the show. It seems familiar, right? I don't want to say it's biting or jocking; it's more paying homage or adopting. Maybe?

(I couldn't find the scene but check out the 6:30 min mark and you'll see what I mean. Also, check out the whole episode.)

Even I Know She's Dominican

I missed last night's new 30 Rock but hopefully I'll watch it today or tomorrow or the next day. I watched this promo though, and apparently Salma Hayek is playing a Puerto Rican nurse who takes care of Jack's mom. A Puerto Rican nurse? Like Carla from Scrubs?

Slam! Duuh Duuh Duh

Obviously, this won't be Super Troopers but we all knew that already. Robin Scherbatsky and Olivia Munn in a Broken Lizard trailer for a Broken Lizard movie. Um, yes.
